Dear Readers,
Made a discovery the other day while I was wandering around You Tube. Believe me, I was drifting, off the mooring entirely. Didn’t want to work. So, just for laughs, I searched my name, and lo and behold, this video came up. Now, you’d think I’d know something about this; it’s only been around since 2019—a wonderful recording of a flash piece that Open: Journal of Arts and Letters, published even before they accepted it and the rest of my chapbook, Here Comes Herodotus. Again!, in 2021.
I wish I knew Hermione Wilds because I’d like to thank her for doing such a lovely job with the reading. In addition to the bio panel at the end of the video, I have discovered elsewhere that Ms. Wilds is a British illustrator and musician, who has a website where you can look at a portfolio of her work: https://hermionewild.co.uk/.
Hmmm. Methinks I could reach her there.
As for the images—Eugene Ivanov’s painting called, “The Grand Master’s Game,” was used as the cover illustration for “Herodotus”, which I was excited about then, and this more expansive use of his work here is just a crazy, unexpected bonus.
Finally, I want to thank Open: O:JA&L for giving me so much oxygen.
Hey, if you think of it, leave a comment either on the You Tube page or send me a message; let me know what you think.
Best,
WC
