Poetry in Jamestown

 

As part of our National Poetry Month Celebration, The Friends of the Jamestown Philomenian Library present readings by poets Peter Covino and Charles Kell on Thursday, April 19th in the Meeting Room of the JPL from 6 to 8 pm. The library is located at 25 North Road in Jamestown.

Peter Covino is an associate professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Rhode Island, and author of the poetry collections, The Right Place to Jump (2012); and Cut Off the Ears of Winter (2005) both from W. Michigan University Press, New Issues.  His prizes include an upcoming fellowship from Richmond the American International University of London, 2018; and past prizes, the PEN American / Osterweil Award, and the Paterson Poetry Prize for Literary Excellence, among others.

Charles Kell (pictured above) is a PhD student at The University of Rhode Island and editor of The Ocean State Review. His poetry and fiction have appeared in The New Orleans Review, The Saint Ann’s Review, Kestrel, The Pinch, and elsewhere. He teaches in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The event is free and open to the public.
